Legend has it that Clynelish was once ravaged by a terrible snowstorm. The unusual cold of the storm put the precious casks at risk of certain destruction – the contents froze in the biting wind, until a mysterious feline creature quietly appeared. Unaffected by the harsh temperatures, it directed its mesmerizing golden eyes towards the casks, enveloping them in a cocoon of magical warmth. The rescued oak transformed with a rare depth of mysterious and vibrant spice, forever fortified against the chill. Retreating from the pristine beauty, in the bramble-filled forest of the Highlands, Clynelish is an even more remote distillery than most. It is also the natural habitat of the elusive Scottish wildcat, Felix Sylvestris. Very few of these elusive creatures remain and they are rarely seen, but the wildcat symbol adorns the Clynelish distillery, protecting it forever. Bright as a golden eye, amidst the light, this Clynelish showcases a spicier aspect with bright fruit notes and a waxy texture. The rich liquid shines with a complex aroma of fruit, herbs, and deeper fragrant oak spices. The smooth texture and rich sweet flavor of the whisky blend with pepper-spice after a lengthy secondary maturation in Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso casks. A rare and elusive single malt as mysterious as its guardian.
