According to our legend, on a special day, the King of Islay is reborn. A ray of sunlight falls from the sky and scorches the earth. As the fire subsides, the charred ground is enveloped in thick smoke. Suddenly, new life rises from the ashes in shimmering golden and deep red feathers. A regal Phoenix soars on its wings of fire, energizing the still images of Lagavulin, amplifying its spice intensity. Lagavulin has long been the home of legends. Its rocky bay is crowned by a castle by the Lords of the Isles, who have ruled for ages. The distillery increases continuously; immensely respected, a king born to reign. Produced at the birthplace of the distilling industry, this iconic Islay malt is rich and smoky, steeped in history and legend for over two hundred years. In this profound expression from pure oak and our highest smoke inventory, the peat casks lead spice and smoke into their eternal dance with deep sweetness. The smooth, rich introduction shines with robust sweetness, before lemon and sea salt add freshness and an explosion of spice to savor. In the mid-palate, the flavors become drier, the smoke intensity increasing. Great waves of peat create a long, spicy finish of smoke. Newly ignited, Lagavulin rises to a new height of smoky spice.
