As the hidden gem in the crown of the 'King of Islay', Lagavulin 26 Y.O is first distilled in Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso casks, possessing a character that is both generous and elegant, with the ability to conceal its refined richness beneath a deep, dark exterior.
The scent of burning wood rises, mingling with the delicate aroma of grape brandy along with flaxseed oil, followed by seaweed, figs, butterscotch, and then the pungent smell mixed with the characteristic smoke of Lagavulin. Take a sip to experience the elusive refined taste before everything falls into a dense maze resembling the sea.
WINE TASTING NOTES:
Aroma: a rich maritime flavor with many layers of different aromas. It begins with sea air and Himalayan salt, combined with the smoky scent of dry Lapsang Souchong tea and mineral salt. Following that are dry notes from cocoa powder and dried seaweed.
Taste: The texture is smooth and lightly fatty; the flavor starts sweet and then quickly spreads with the strong sourness of lemon, with a touch of sea salt and a hint of charcoal. The overall salty and sweet taste is rounded, softer, and sweeter with a drop of water.
Finish: Long, with a strong smoky and spicy aftertaste. The smoke lingers wonderfully in the finish. It is more pronounced with a little water.
