Lagavulin 1993 comes from the last 2 casks of 1993, started in the year Lagavulin received its first international award. It marked the beginning of a golden era, a success largely attributed to an Islay legend, Manager Grant Carmichael. This whisky at its peak maturity immediately impresses the taster with fruity aromas from red grapes, then gives way to a maritime scent with salty sea and sweet seaweed. With a smooth light oil texture, the whisky creates a lingering gentle finish, a rounded and rich whisky.
WINE TASTING NOTES:
Aroma: A gentle, slightly tingling sensation. The aroma of red fruit is followed by sea salt and sweet seaweed on a forest wood base.Taste: A sweet and slightly spicy start immediately with winey fruit, balanced right away with salt, and overwhelmed with smoky pepper. Rich with a tannic flavor from dried oak creating a light dry sensation afterwards.Finish: Long, with a light, thin smoke cooling the throat, along with more smoke in the peat aftertaste.
