Lagavulin 1993 comes from the last two casks of 1993, the year Lagavulin received its first international award. It marked the beginning of a golden era, a success largely attributed to an Islay legend, Manager Grant Carmichael. This peak-aged whisky immediately impresses with its fruity red grape notes, then gives way to marine notes with salty and sweet seaweed. With its light, smooth oily texture, the whisky creates a lingering, mellow finish, a well-rounded and rich whisky.
TASTING NOTES:
Aroma: Smooth, slightly tingling sensation. Red fruit aromas are followed by sweet sea salt and seaweed notes on a forest wood base.
Taste: An immediate sweet and slightly spicy start with winey fruit, immediately balanced by salt, and overwhelmed with smoky pepper. Rich with tannins from toasted oak, leaving a light dryness afterward.
Finish: Long-lasting, with a light smoky coolness on the palate, and more smoke in the peat aftertaste.
