Taronja de Gris is a collaboration between Jean-Marc Lafage (Domaine Lafage, Roussillon) and his neighbour and friend Justin Howard-Sneyd MW of Domaine of the Bee. "Taronja" is Catalan for "orange" – reflecting the wine's signature amber/copper colour and the region's Catalan heritage, labelled IGP Côtes Catalanes rather than Côtes du Roussillon.
Made from old-vine Grenache Gris blended with Grenache Blanc and a small portion of Muscat and Viognier, vinified in the "orange wine" style – macerated on the skins for around two weeks to extract colour and light tannic structure.
Light amber/copper colour; aromas of orange peel, white pepper, ginger, melon and citrus fruit; a dry palate with light tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, clean finish. (General house-style description across vintages.)
