Marqués de Tomares is a long-standing family estate in Rioja Alta, with nearly 106 hectares of family-owned vineyards, many over 100 years old. Although most of its production is red, this limited-production white Gran Reserva shows the Viura grape's remarkable ageing potential.
Gran Reserva Blanco 2016 blends 95% Viura with 5% Garnacha Blanca from old vines in Rioja Alta and Alavesa, hand-harvested, naturally fermented, aged 36 months in oak barrels followed by a further 30 months in the cellar before bottling.
Golden yellow colour; aromas of apple, citrus, hazelnut/almond with brioche, candied orange, honey and caramel, touched with minerality; medium body, balanced acidity, stone-fruit and mineral flavours, with a long, elegant finish.
