Caol Ila is the largest distillery on Islay, established in 1846, known for a refined, balanced peat-smoke style with delicate fruitiness and a gentle maritime character – setting it apart from Islay's bolder expressions.

This is the first release in Diageo's Prima & Ultima collection, holding personal significance for Dr. Jim Beveridge, who worked at Caol Ila in the early 1980s, a pivotal period in the distillery's history. Distilled in 1984, this whisky spent a full 35 years maturing in a single refill European oak butt.

Bright polished brass colour with amber hues; aromas of caramel and dried fruit (sultanas, currants) mingled with delicate, earthy peat smoke; a lightly oily palate of lemon juice, grapefruit, salt water and soft peat, reminiscent of fish smoked on a beach barbecue; a long, smoky citrus finish with a gingery spice.
